Following our season's opener in Denmark we thought we would let you know how we got on. The 1200 mile 3 day road trip was less than ideal preparation however a warm & friendly welcome in the lovely Aalborg, Denmark got us back in the mood and focused on the event. 70k spectators came to the Regatta event with an overwhelming amount of support from the public and local businesses. With the sea front lined with trade stands & beer tents it truly was an event to remember with a festival feel; the weekend long celebration of the sea included an eclectic array of entertainment too including dancing into the early hours and an impressive fireworks display.

There were 4 heat races on the Saturday with the top boats from each going onto the Grand Final on Sunday. The breakdown of the heats was based on a qualifying lap time and then split down to ensure an even spread of competition. Having looked at entries and seeing former UK Champs and current USA Champs James Norville & Christian Parsons-Young we knew it was going to be tough; especially considering we'd beat them so convincingly in Mumbai! Pipped to the quickest lap by four tenths of a second we secured the 2nd fastest lap which meant we weren't to face our arch rivals until the Grand Final. We won both our heat races, as did the USA Champs but a count back to qualy meant we would start 2nd on the grid.

With flat calm conditions and a short course we weren't able to get to the first turn ahead of James & Christian despite our best efforts trying differing race lines to close the gap but a faultless drive by the very experienced team meant we took the chequered in a respectable 2nd.

We'd like to thank you for your continued support; ultimately we couldn't do it without you! The next round takes us to Greenock, Scotland in 2 weeks so lots to do in a short space of time. Hope to catch up soon, in the meantime we've attached some pics for of the weekend, once more come through will make sure we ping them across.

Kind regards,

Sam & Daisy x
