Bastion Wall Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum

Posted 16/06/15

In one of his final acts as a regular officer, Prince Harry unveiled the Bastion Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum on Thursday 11 June 2015.  The Memorial (a wall originally constructed at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province to honour British Service personnel who died on operations in Afghanistan) was repatriated to UK in late 2014.  The reconstructed Bastion Memorial is based on the same design and a Service of Dedication took place to remember those who gave their lives during operations in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2014.  The Dedication Service was attended by nearly 2,000 people including family, friends and relatives of Royal Artillery service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice.

After the Service the Royal Artillery Headquarters and Regiments hosted the Royal Artillery families at a reception organised by the Royal British Legion.
