Posted 12/11/21

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall opened the 93rd Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 11th November 2021. The annual event marks the start of the nation's Remembrance commemorations.

The Last Post was sounded from the parapet of St Margaret's Church by a bandsman from the Scots Guards.

After the observance of two minutes' silence, The Duchess of Cornwall met representatives from the military organisations and members of the public. The Royal Regiment of Artillery was represented by members of the Regimental Headquarters.

The Duchess of Cornwall then visited the Grave of the Unknown Warrior inside Westminster Abbey, where she laid a posy of flowers in remembrance.

The Field of Remembrance will remain open until Sunday 21st November and members of the public are invited to visit and plant their own cross with personal tributes, where a sea of scarlet poppies cover the grounds of the Abbey.

Canon Ball: 'Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends'.
