Royal Artillery Archive arrives in Larkhill

Posted 12/01/17

The Royal Artillery Museum Archive has now arrived in Larkhill and is back at the heart of the Regiment.  We are delighted to see that 10% of the Archive Collection is not in situ within the Royal School of Artillery with the Regimental Family soon being able to access some of these records historic records.

The main Royal Artillery Archive contains over 5,000 separate military document collections, 3 million photographs and a large collection of official war diaries.  It is part of the wider RA Collection and with designated status one that has been visited by many Gunners at Firepower. After Firepower’s closure in July much of The Collection has now been moved into storage in Wroughton and Upavon.

The archive is currently residing safely in secure, environmentally controlled storage while plans are made to move it Larkhill in the near future.

You can hear more about this on the Royal Artillery Museum Archive Facebook page.
