Building a good forum

by Pronto49 - 26th September 11:16

report

The old site had many thousands of members but very few who actually took part in the forums. I hope that doesn't happen with this new site? I have asked a few Gunner friends and colleagues to show some support and if everyone who joins us does the same, I'm sure we can build an effective and entertaining forum. Part of the problem is that we are in competition with the likes of FaceBook and Twitter. We shouldn't be really, as it's easy enough to patronise more than one media site at a time. The problem lies in the response times between making a post and getting a reply (if we get one?).

Sarah, on that note there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to join the forums? Until you go to make a post, there is no mention of creating an account? My last message was interupted by a colleague with just that problem. He couldn't find a way to join but with a little help from me, he made it :-)

I had to guide another colleague through the proccess of creating an account for the forums! Apparently, they had used the "Join us" feature - for joining the Associatin - thinking this was the path to joining the forums. They then were awaiting confirmation that they had an account! I wonder how many others are waiting?...

For the benefit of people wishing to join the forums:

Attempt to make a post.

This will result in you being presented with a log in page.

The log in page will tell you "if you don't already have an account; register here"

The registration page will ask you for your name, email address, a username and a password (repeated).

Fill in the form and click "Register" and that's it. you will now be able to take part in the forums.

George, it doesn't matter that they talk rubbish, at least they talk and keep the site going. It doesn't take long to mine the nuggets from the dross but if there is no content there in the first place, people just stop coming. Most ex-service forums/message boards have a low post rate but look at the readership! It's frutrating for those of us who try to keep contributing - even when we can't find anything interesting to say - but we have to keep at it and hope that we can provoke a bit of debate or banter and altimately, gain more contributers.

That should have been "ultimately". Seems my spell checker doesn't work on here either, so will have to be more diligent?

Those of you who desire to become doctors should play the hospital game where you can learn how to administer a big hospital or clinic in addition to being a general practitioner. Those hospital games will show how both physicians and nurses collaborate to offer patients the best care possible. Would you like to play this kind of game now? If yes, then check this free hospital games list. By the way, read this location guide in Stray game. Thank you!

The gunner association is performing a good role in publishing different forums. The consumeratings is another platform where you can build forums.
