Norwich Branch RAA - New Banner Looks great!

Posted 15/09/15

Despite being reasonably successful with fundraising in Norwich, the Branch Secretary, Herbie Slaughter was always looking for ways to enhance the Association’s profile.

After seeing the banners at the Assembly in Blackpool, he asked around about the stands and several stores and colleagues very kindly donated some to him. With the help of Capt. Alan Solly and Sarah, who sent him templates of the various coats of arms he wished to display and with the assistance of his grandson, he designed the two banners, one for the Royal Artillery Association and the other for The Royal Artillery Charitable Fund, both displaying Norwich Branch underneath.

They were printed locally for a reasonable cost. They were used for the first time on the August bank holiday weekend and they had a great effect on customers who donated generously.  Often asked if he was collecting for Arsenal Football Club (The Gunners!!) or for some Animal Welfare Fund (!!) people were now in no doubt as to whom he was fundraising for.

As a result of this success, the Branch Secretary, who is also the District Representative is now having some made for other branches in the district, who are interested.  Lowestoft Branch has already made use of some and again this greatly enhanced their profile when they were collecting at the weekend.

A simple but very effective way of getting us out there!!
