Royal Artillery Association Service of Remembrance

Posted 24/07/23

The annual Royal Artillery Service of Remembrance organised by the RAA HQ Staff, took place at the National Memorial Arboretum on Saturday 22nd July 2023. Over 300 people attended this special event; representatives from RHQ RA, serving regiments, cadets, Chelsea In-Pensioners, veterans and their families.

The Honorary Chaplain of the RAA, The Venerable Stephen Robbins CB, led the service and wreath-laying ceremony.  A most fitting service took place in the Aspects Building, with Colonel Matthew Carter, Regimental Secretary who read the Lesson.  After the Service, we moved to the RA Memorial Garden where Colonel Matthew Carter, and Colonel Charlie Harmer ADC, Regiment Colonel, led the Wreath Laying service and WO1 (RASM) Sanders recited the Ode of Remembrance.

Throughout the whole event, Mr Mark Ballard, our National Standard Bearer, organised the Standard Bearers in a manner that added a splendid pageantry to the day. The event was, once again, superbly supported by members of the Lancashire Artillery Volunteers Band, by kind permission of the Commanding Officer 103rd Regt RA.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event, neither the weather or road works were in our favourite but it did not dampen the occasion, the event was a great success and we look forward to welcoming you next year on Saturday 29th June 2024.
